ALL MEMBERS OF THE COLLEGE COMMUNITY SHOULD ADHERE TO THE POLICIES AND RULES OF MOTHEO FET COLLEGE AT ALL TIMES.

COLLEGE RULES
These college rules are designed to create, regulate and maintain a healthy and harmonious physical and intellectual environment in which students and staff can be free to develop and achieve their highest potential and to promote a culture of teaching and learning.

1.  LECTURE ROOM RULES

BY REGISTERING FOR A COURSE, THE STUDENT COMMITS HIMSELF/HERSELF TO THE FOLLOWING:
1.1 To attend lessons/lectures regularly
1.2 To be punctual for lectures
1.3 To complete all assignments
1.4 To sit for all tests
1.5 To complete work to be done after normal college hours/homework
1.6 To catch up on work done resulting from absence
1.7 To provide a medical certificate for absence resulting from illness
1.8 To respect the culture of learning
1.9 Not to disrupt the academic atmosphere in Class

2.  CARE OF COLLEGE PROPERTY
2.1 To use college equipment and facilities with care. if a student intentionally or carelessly misuses,    damages, or defaces college property, the student will be called upon to replace it, or to pay for the damage caused
2.2 To place litter in refuse bins provided for the purpose

3.   OFFENCES THAT MAY LEAD TO SUSPENSION/EXPULSION
3.1  Bribery, blackmail, fraud, dishonesty, theft or removal of college property from the college grounds or buildings
3.2  Damage to college property
3.3  Resistance or cheekiness, instruction not carried out, improper carrying out of duties or deliberate   ignoring of college procedures and standing instructions or deliberate negligence
3.4  Assault or altempt to assault or threatening of any person
3.5  Under the influence of or in possession of any alcohol or drugs at the college
3.6  Possession of pornographic or repulsive literature
3.7  Neglect to adhere to safety regulations, playing of dangerous games and unauthorized removal of machine guards or safety equipment or the property of staff, students or visitors to the college
3.8  Unauthorized or careless use of any machinery or equipment, deliberate damage to, or interference with, or wasting of college property or equipment or the property of staff, students or visitors to the college
3.9  Unauthorized use of college vehicles or the negligent use thereof
3.10 The altering of a medical certificate or the fraudulent use thereof
3.11 Student actions or incitement to take part in student actions; the boycott of lectures and student activities are included
3.12 Possession of a firearm or dangerous weapon on college property
3.13 Victimization
3.14 Intimidation or incitement of students to violence of any kind
3.15 organizing of or participation in a political meeting, gathering, campaign or March on the campus
3.16 ignoring (or misuse) of college rules, other than have already been covered in this document
3.17 placing or distribution of notices or signs without permission on notice boards.  No notices on any other places
3.18 neglect to report any accident or damage to college property
3.19 gambling or card-playing on college property or the lending of money and charging of interest thereon (usury)
3.20 defamatory or insulting use of language or signs

4. PRESCRIBED BOOKS
4.1  It is the responsibility of the student to acquire / purchase the prescribed books and or additional reading material necessary for the course.    The attention of all students is pertinently drawn to the matter of photocopies which are brought to class in violation of the copyright act, act 98 of 1978 or any relevant act. Photocopied books are not permitted in class.
