Motheo FET College:  Resource Centres

 

The Motheo FET College was finally established as a Public Further Education and Training college on the 1^st of April 2002, merging the former technical colleges of Hillside View, Bloemfontein, Thaba’Nchu and the former Kagisanong College of Education into a single mega college with a total student enrolment in excess of

13 000 students.

 

The college operates from three main delivering sites;  namely the Bloemfontein Centre on the edge of the Bloemfontein CBD, the Hillside View Centre in Khomo Street, Mangaung and the Thaba’Nchu Centre in Bultfontein Road, Thaba’Nchu, each with its own Resource Centre.

 

Motheo FET College offers a diverse combination of affordable, career orientated  vocational training programmes in Engineering, Management Sciences, Business Sciences, Hospitality Services, Hair Care, Cosmetology, Art and Design, Cabinet making and Upholstery, Clothing Technology, Construction Sciences and Tourism.  From 2007 the new  National Certificate Vocational NQF Levels 2 – 4 three year course, will also be offered at Motheo FET College (equivalent to Grade 10 – 12).

 

The Resource Centre at each delivery site provides the following services, facilities and resources:

·        relevant literature and resource materials for reference and general usage;

·        relevant periodicals and publications;

·        internet access and facilities;

·        relevant audio/visual materials and viewing facilities;

·        information search services;

·        inter-library loan services;

·        secure and quiet study facilities;

·        coin operated photo copy machines;

·        research assistance; and

·        career guidance.

 

Motheo FET College opens through its training the students’ door to employability, therefore each Resource Centre must assist in this goal and be a centre of excellence delivery.
