Motheo FET College was established in April 2002. The former Bloemfontein College, Hillside View College,
Kagisanong College for Education and Thaba 'Nchu College were merged to form one of the 50 new mega institutions in the
Further Education and Training Sector. The merging of these four colleges is an exciting example of how, by combining
resources and expertise, the merged colleges are able to meet the needs of the community more effectively.

MOTHEO FET COLLEGE offers career education to students in three main areas:
  - those who because of their aptitude and interest, choose career education after Grade 9;
  - students who wish to study in a career direction after Grade 12 in either Engineering, Management, Business or General Studies; 
  - adult employees who wish to follow in-service training courses which are geared towards specific aspects of their jobs.
